5 Reasons Prohibition Fails

Complete loss of control
When something is legal, whether is be guns or alcohol, there is a checks and balance system in place to control the flow of the items for safe and reasonable means. When something is illegal nobody has control. Mainly because there are no checks and balances on the table to bring further insight into the situation. I would compare this to a doctor that prefers instead of treating the wound, simply amputating the entire arm. This lack of examination of the problem leads to complete anarchy and chaos.
Sellers are criminals not doctors
With prohibition the sellers become criminals, either through direct relation or other circumstances. Simply placing the act of selling a item into the category of being a crime will make people that commit crimes(including assault and theft) more likely to be the ones that sell it. That is just logical statistics. That leads me to the question of, why put a “possibly” dangerous substance into the hands of a criminal and not your family doctor?
No standards
I should say lack of standards, but I’m not. With a substance such as beer or wine there is a way of knowing the alcohol content of that particular bottle or drink. It’s usually printed on the bottle or can be found through the manufacture. In contrast, If somebody buys marijuana off the street there is no way of knowing the THC content of that purchase. Could you imagine not being able to know that malt liquor is usually very high in alcohol and that regular beer tends to be much lower? You would never know, because you weren’t allowed to know. This causes bad judgment through lack of knowledge.
Causes confusion and hysteria
When people first learn about prohibition it is usually from their parents or teachers at school. There are many programs out their that are not only ineffective but are actually counter productive. I have heard of a couple studies on DARE that showed it had negative effects on controlling drug abuse. I can’t vouch for those myself, but feel free to look into the research and let me know what you think. Grouping methamphetamines and marijuana into the same “educational video” is just dangerous for kids. Those should be kept very far apart so kids can know the magnitude of danger involved with the drug.(Yes these videos do exist)
Doesn’t work
Tell me one time in history when a small group of people was actually able to control a larger will? The only time I can think of right now is slavery, and that only works through extreme physical or mental dominance. So if you’re not a slave and they’re not slaves, how could it possibly work?
Let me know what you think about prohibition and the laws we have today to enforce them.
