A large portion of the time, when I am recording and mixing music tracks, I use my studio quality headphones instead of my studio monitors. I really enjoy a great pair of headphones and that is why researching to find the best stereo gaming headphones turned out to be quite a challenge.
The main problem I found is that the market is flooded with many “unknown” headphone manufactures that just can not play with the true audiophile trusted companies. After I did some digging though, I was able to come up with two recommendations for the top gaming headphones of 2009.
Recommended Stereo Gaming Headphones
Razer Piranha Stereo Gaming Headphones

Pros:
- Great reviews for sound quality
- Good bass response
- Noise-canceling microphone
Cons:
- Sub-par reviews for durability
- Not a audiophile level headphone company
All in all, the Razer Piranhas’ appear to be a solid product when it comes to sound, but may be lacking in durability. With that aside though, these are the best quality cans that I found from a company that hasn’t been into headphones for very long.

Highly Recommended Stereo Gaming Headphones
Sennheiser Pc161 Over-The-Head Open-Air Binaural Headset

Pros:
- True Sennheiser sound in a tight package
- Received great reviews
- Great bass response
- Collapsible Design
Cons:
- None!
Sennheiser is one of the best headphone manufactures in the world and I am happy too see that they offer a few different headsets as well. You really can’t go wrong with any of Sennheiser’s headsets or headphones, but for the price, the Pc161 can’t be beat.
