Portland Mega Liquidation Club Sale

This weekend the Portland Mega Liquidation Club Sale will be going on at the Portland Expo Center. Last weekend the Tacoma dome hosted the Super Mega Liquidation Sale. Two giant sales, two different names, but still the same old scam.

Rachel, my partner in crime, attended the Tacoma Super Mega Liquidation Sale last weekend and wrote an excellent article on how much of a dismal failure the event was. Here is a quote from her experiences.

The Mega Liquidation was more like a flea market with only 10 stands or so. I stood in line at one of the stands in hopes to get my hands on an Ipod touch; only to find out that they were generic fakes and were not that great of a deal. In fact most of the electronics section were generic pieces of crap that are outdated and questionable in quality.

There are other reports of these “mega sales” around the web, sighting how the advertisements were either, very misleading or downright full of lies. I can’t say for sure, based on the research I have done so far, but I believe that these scams are ran across the country under multiple different aliases.

You might ask, why would they put a bunch of junk out for sale if nobody is going to buy it? My answer would be, because they don’t care if you buy ANYTHING. They have one goal and one goal only, and that is to get you to pay the $8 entrance fee. If 10,000 people show up in just one city that is $80,000 before even selling a single thing. 10 cities later and you have almost a million dollars.

These mega sales are running a bait and switch tactic across the country and have disappointed countless people. I’d stick to online liquidation sales if your want a true bargain. When buying online you can at least read reviews of the company before continuing with the purchase.

What did you think of the Mega Liquidation Club Sale that came to your town?

I also attended one of these and was highly disappointed! Not only did I spend over $30 for my husband and I to attend with parking and admission but the products were crap!!! On the advertisement it said that they would have ipod’s name band clothes and shoes and a whole lot more. EVERYTHING was a knock off. It all looked like it was going to fall apart and it wasn’t cheap either. I went looking for a digital camera and the most inexpensive one I found was $115 and it was the size of my palm and it was horrible quality. Do not attend this, it is a total waste of time and money.

I also attended. It was more like a flea market. or going through someones junk. Half of the items were broken and way over priced. I went to complain to get my money back and the lady said she would not. I went looking for tools and she told me there were welding tools. WHAT THE HECK AM I GONNA WELD??? Maybe I should weld a stick to hit her with.

This was my first and LAST time going to this rip off of a place.

We also went looking for shoes and they were not even ready to sell.I was there at 12:00 and he said he wouldn’t be ready till 4pm. C’mon I don’t have time to wait there for off brand shoes that are way over priced.

-DON’T GO TO THIS THING. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.

I went to the liquidation that came here to portland as well and it was a total rip off. I went with my brothers and it cost us about 40 bucks just for admissions and parking. Only to find out that the “Ipods” that they were mentioning were cheap ,fake look-a-like. And so was everything else and I saw no low priced laptops as they had advertise.
It was more of a flea market than a liqidation sale! So, I basically spend 40 bucks and bought nothing since everthying was overpriced and could’ve found cheaper at best buy or walmart brand new!

So, for anyone who’s planning to attend this [DON'T] it is a total waste of your time, and money.

We went to the Portland one and after driving through a snowstorm expecting a room full of deals and last minute presents for the kids we shelled out $30 for a half empty room full of cheap tattered clothing, cheap plastic toys and piles of dirty boom boxes and other assorted outdated electronics. They weren’t even in boxes, just loose in piles. The laptops were ancient (One even had a floppy drive). I am angry enough to look up their company

    Lucky Seven Promotions, LLC
For information 412.678.1799 (Mike Henschel) or 608.215.1211 (Steve Thompson)

and report them to the Better Business Bureau. I would like to see them arrested for false advertising as well. Now is the worst possible time to be scamming people, if nothing else they should be arrested for their own safety.

If they scam someone who is out of work and trying to find a birthday gift for his little girl with his last few dollars they might end up with a shooting on their hands instead of just controversy.

Sure this is just my imagination here but think about how many people are out of work or on hard times. Desperate people do desperate things and this could turn very ugly very fast.

The people who pull that scam should be taken out back and have their heads cut off. Why the government or state allow them to practice like that is beyond me. If I went there I would demand my money back, and would not leave until my money is returned. I would call the police if need be. They would not get a penny from me. I hope that someone that this company scammed goes back or finds the owner of this company and gives him what they deserve.

Yea they came by san diego as well in fact its going on right now I looked it up cause I wanted to know weather you had to pay to enter but first thing I found was bloggers showing their disgust towards this event lucky that saved me a trip I was even gonna call the news and tell them to make a report on it lol but I was too late, morning news had a whole cover story on it referring it to a scam and have aggreed to no longer show the AD they even make the company refund the people’s money back, they wouldve never done that if the news hadn’t showed up.Hope these guys go to jail.Buyer Beware! if it sounds to good to be true it is. goodluck all :)

Hey everyone… take a look at this article written about the mega liquidation club…. It’s old though, but it’s a load of bs!

  8. They aired the same commercial here in San Diego but luckily I came across this site and Ripoffreport.com and even posted a warning to my readers at mycheaptech.com .

Still many people showed up at the event today (Jan 02 2009) that our local news station channel 6 did a story showing all the pissed off people at the event and cause such a ruckus that the City Of San Diego Attorney establish a hot line number to file complaints.

    I just saw the add

    Thanks for the warning

I was going to tell a friend. and go

  10. many Complain About Mega Liquidation Club

    Last Update: 1/03 3:55 pm

Many say Mega Liquidation Club ads are deceptive.

The Mega Liquidation Club ads sound so good. Insanely low prices on name brand goods. Computers and TVs, games system and mp3 players, all far below what you’d see in a store.
They hold special sales events in rented halls all over the country — but where ever they go, consumers are saying the same thing: the event is like a flea market — except they charge you $8 a person to get in the door.

According to people that went to the “Emergency Sale” here in San Diego, there were no $19 mp3 players — only iPods selling at the same price you’d find anywhere else.

As for other electronics, people complained there were no deals.

San Diego 6 found an angry crowd when we went to the San Diego Concourse where their local event was being held. When we tried to see what they were selling, CEO Bruno Vick threw San Diego 6 out.

Eventually we were able to get dozens of people their money back Thursday — but the Mega Liquidation Club’s event goes on through Sunday, January 4th.

The same ad has been running on tv up here in Seattle lately. I went to look up their website and it’s “unavailable”.
The facilities that host these events are almost as guilty as the scammers.

  12. Run The Other Way

My family went to the one in Tacoma, WA on 84th street. I wish we would have read the reviews online before going. We got in cheaper than most because of military affiliation($8 total for 3 people). One vendor had tons of tables and boxes full of broken up makeup, broken electronics, etc (things you wouldn’t even see at a yard sale). We never did see the so called IPODS or other “nice” items that the add said they had. Almost all of their items were knock offs with a high price tag. Don’t waste your time!!!!

  13. mististyle

I went to the one in salem oregon with my son and nephew, because of their ages only I had to pay to get in. But what a crock!!! They only had perfume, sunglasses, jewelry, shoes and over priced electronics. The shoes were mostly the generic type you find at gen ex stores, name brands were 40-80$ The electronics were all the same price as in stores and the computers were dirty and all the electronics looked like store returns or refurbished models. The whole place was a mess. I agree it is a nationwide scam and they should be stopped. It is false advertisement and a huge waste of time.

Just got back from the portland show costed me and friends to go see it $40.00 was 5 of us. The Comericals are totall frauds and web site. There was no x-boxes for under $200 dolloers. Then some dude in a red shirt tried to sell me a 22″ samson monitor for $50 more dolloers then a new one was at fry’s. To be honest Im not one to get mad a a $8.00 entry fee but bait and switch is wrong.

Tips for if you go anyway:

    1) They charge you to park too, but they can’t charge you an extra $8 if you’re dropped off or park outside the dome.

    2) I hear that if you don’t buy anything, you can raise a stink & get a refund on your entrance fee.

    3) Find a booth for a company that is not going out of business & bluff the sales clerk that you are a web reporter. If you start taking notes near their table, the clerks will get a little nervous & they won’t feed you the same bullshit about sales they give everyone else, especially if you are carrying a clip board & wrote their name down on it. (Also, it helps to have a print-out of the stuff your looking for with the prices on it).

    4) If you were too damn lazy to walk & parked there anyway, bluff the parking attendants by presenting them with a recipt. Tell them that you were told if you spent a certain amount, you would get your parking fee refunded. Raise your voice if they resist & make sure people are with in earshot.

Just came back from the one here in Puyallup Washington. Complete crap. Lots of brands nobody has ever heard of, at insane prices. Clothing that is poorly stitched, or outright knockoffs.. as everyone has said, its just an overpriced swap meet. I cant believe that venues still let these things operate. Oh well, it was good for a laugh I guess. I just feel sorry for the people who actually BUY stuff from these vendors..

i was going to go to the sale in Portland, maine to look for a new GPS, but after reading all of these reviews i think i will save the gas money and entrance and drive to Walmart right down the street!! thanks everyone for saving me the wasted time and money

  23. Will C

I was going to go too! The commercial says they are going to have a lot of cool stuff for wicked cheap, but after reading this, no way would i drive 30 miles to that place.

  24. John smith

Would you pay 7-$8.00 to go into a Mall????

  25. L-dawg

So, despite the reviews above, and going to one of thse 4 years ago and being disappointed then, I went to one today with my wife (Portland ME Expo). Not only was everyone above right on the mark, the place was just a general disappointment. $7 entry fee, nothing worth the listed price, and any “deal” to be had was had long before I got there. The only thing worth mentioning is that we got a decent deal on fake perfume and cologne. I found out that this time is like a giant yard sale, haggle with them on the prices and they might lower it, they did for us. We got them to knock 40 bucks off the asking price of what we bought. Sure, we knew we were buying knock-offs and a, presumably, discontinued scent, but we were happy with the price. So it was a win-win for both of us.

Overall though, there’s probably nothing there that you will want or need. Go to a retail store and you’ll probably be a lot happier. For the cost of the entrance fee you can go in there with the mindset that you’re not going to find anything worth buying and then just laugh at all the garbage they’re trying to sell.

Thank you to all for this great information. Personally, I truly HATE scams. These scam-artists will continue their cons as long as there is an idiot who does no research and just pays entry, parking to ironically find out they’re an idiot. The bigger idiot blows his money on low-quality garbage from a company no one has ever seen. When I read articles and comments like these, I become more skeptical about the business world in the U.S. Slowly, we watch the world’s trust fade away…
True Fact: There is always an idiot.
