The Tacoma Super Mega-Liquidation Sale is going on this weekend (December 12-14th) at the Tacoma Dome. As they advertised on TV and other places, this yearly tradition promises great deals and hot items at rock bottom prices.
I heard that they had Apple Ipod items for 20-50 dollars and other good electronics deals. Sounded like a good idea to drive the 40 some miles to get in line. Upon arrival, there were a lot of things we did not forsee – parking costs $8, entrance was $8 a person, and when you walk in… there was nothing but a large pile of crap.
The “Mega Liquidation” was more like a flea market with only 10 stands or so. I stood in line at one of the stands in hopes to get my hands on an Ipod touch… only to find out that they were generic fakes and were not that great of a deal. In fact most of the electronics section were generic pieces of crap that are outdated and questionable in quality.
A lot of their dishware was broken or in a box that customers were not allowed to open in order to inspect. There’s also no price tags and it seemed that after waiting in line for an hour to pay for your items, it wasn’t even a good deal to begin with. There were your usual jewelry stands, and I’m surprised that they could be categorized as part of the “liquidation”. Rings for $15? You’re better off going to Claire’s with the stuff they had there…
The laptops were all used, and one couldn’t tell whether or not they were refurbished. They are overpriced considering a brand new Acer would be cheaper and have better memory and hard drive, etc. What else was there? Shoes, colored contact lenses, knock offs of designer bags, sunglasses, and pirated CD’s. I wouldn’t pay $8 to look at that!
A lot of us who go there are first-timer “tourists”. A good amount of these people left pissed off. They came from Everett, Bothell, Portland… But tell you what – if you do decide to risk it and end up pissed off, don’t buy something just to make the trip worth it. I got a refund on my ticket and so can you, just make sure you don’t leave and come back the next day. If you want to go to a flea market, go to Pike Place, Ballard, or Fremont. There’s a lot more going on, you don’t have to pay to window shop, and they actually have good shit there as well as competitors. (Plus you can also barter the prices lower).
Conclusion: The place was a big pile of crap. Plus it wasn’t even a good deal!

Well…I wish I knew I could have returned my ticket for a refund. Unfortunately, I went home after leaving the place flustered and pissed off. As I walked past the pay parking lots, I exclaimed that I was thankful that I didn’t pay to park and also lost money on this waste of time. The parking guys made fun of me, but eh, I kept walking.
I was interested in buying a pair of shoes. Nike shoes for $15? Their website says $8. I never saw any for less than $25..and that was for a pair of sz 16 sneakers. I saw knock off Nike shoes for $5. Those “Air” shoes that are in no way related to Nike. They had other shoes as well, but they were priced higher than the same pair at Famous Footwear. They had all sorts of knock off and generic brands….Durabrand, Payoneer, Coby, and this obnoxious guy selling knockoff sunglasses offering a “personality test.”
They had a 433Mhz computer for $349. Um….you could buy a computer with triple the memory for just a hundred more. Not to mention, it had Windows XP. Can you imagine how long it would take to surf the web on that computer? That computer had to have been at least a decade old. Plus, it was used.
I wrote KCPQ that showed their commercials and informed them of their bait and switch advertising. It seemed like it was a big and great deal. These commercials are fraudulent. I almost want to stand outside the Dome tomorrow with a big sign warning folks not to go inside and get scammed out of their hard earned money.
Thank you so much for your message. I was planning on going man it’s to late to tell my good friend that told me he was planning on maxing out his credit card up there. YIKES!
wow i just tried to talk my brother into taking his gps back and checking that thing out. I’m really glad i read this!! i think u should go up there and stand outside lol sounds like a rip off
Wow… I was actually planning on asking a friend to accompany me there. Fourtunately, I googled “mega liquidation” and I came across your post.
Thank you!
I’m not even going to mention the idea to my friend now.
Thank you again for the post.
[...] my partner in crime, attended the Tacoma Super Mega Liquidation Sale last weekend and wrote a excellent article on how much of a dismal failure the event was. Here is a quote from her experiences. The “Mega [...]

I went to one of theese things last year, at the tacoma dome they come like 3times a year. It was the worst thing i have ever gone to in this state. I see that the ceo has responded to some of these messages and said that the things they announce on tv sell out within minutes. Its bait and switch. Thats why no tv channel airs the commercial on tv in western washington anymore. The vendors have a few of the items they claim to be selling for all three days and then hope youll just by the junk they have left over
I went to one of these 2 years ago and was inside the doors within an hour. Mr Vic has stated that if you go there within hours, you will find these deals that are advertised. I was there within the hour and didn’t find any of the deals advertised.
I did find several brands that were very close in name to the ones advertised, but looking closely at the products, you can see that they are not manufactured at the same locations as is there “real” counterpart. I know this because I researched their brands, affiliates and locations.
Mr. Vic, since you state that you are the CEO, you should be very well aware of this fact. However, if you are not, then I suggest that you do some investigative research of your own. I still fail to see how you could be duped into believing that you are marketing these false entities under brand names, since as acting CEO, you need to deal with sales associates, etc..
I believe that if someone had the finances and decided to press charges for false advertising, they would win. Until that day comes when someone can afford to step forward and put a case in motion, this webside is an excellent resource to forewarn the public.
Rachel Cheng, you have written an excellent article and one that you can be very proud of in helping to publicize this fraudulent “Mega Liquidation Club.”
Wow, you know the saying… if its too good to be true, it is! Stay away if your smart.
These obvious scammers are now in San Diego and will leave soon making it hard to catch them. Please go down there with banners and let people know how false this is and to avoid spending hard working money. SOME ONE NEEDS TO STOP THEM.
Call the police, Call the city attorney Michael Aguirre.
Put it on the media. Sue them. Dont be affraid. Thousands of people have your back. Remember: if you dont buy nothing from them, they dont care. All they want is the admission fee. Imagine 8$ admission fee times the people that show up. Example: if 15,000 show up. Thats $120,000 without selling nothing. WOW!!! Stop making this scammer rich!!! This is a game for this scammer. They dont care if you get angry. They know most of the time nobody goes against them in legal ways. Ive gone against this scammers and have won court battles, leaving them in jail. Get evidence and take them to jail. Go in there with your video camera. This scammer says he’s been in business for 20 years. That doesnt mean he’s no scammer.
I am a polite person but honestly get this piece of crap to jail.
[...] Tacoma Super Mega-Liquidation Sale [...]
glad i read this, was planning on researching prices and trying to make bank on ebay… guess not, thanks everyone, gotta love the internet!!!
Bruno vick of mega liquidation club is a scam artist. he even sold a floor space in his scam sale for like over $200,000 to his sister to sell jewelry convinced her it was a great deal then sent her to cities with no people. took her life savings now she has cancer & is on welfare & he doesn’t care as long as he scamed her out of all her hard earned money! people trusted him that’s why they went into bussiness with him with no legal paperwork. he has millions of other peoples money! he tells everyone he gave his sister a million dollars..he took all her money on a bad bussiness deal & lied! I think she lives in wisc now. you have no idea who you are defending! I never see his family or old friends around anymore. he used them all & took all their money! Vick’s sentence for the “Mega-Liquidation Club†violation includes three years of probation, a $1000 .
Hmmm, a pity, but to be expected. It’s just like how the American furnature industry works when they pretend to have sales by raising the price & marking the original price as the discount, only they don’t usualy offer knock-off furnature. (But I will say one thing, a few of those knock-off ipods from China offer a bigger bang for your buck).
Well, I was hoping to get a digital camera & a huge flatbed scanner, but I don’t want to risk buying secondhand technology, since it’s manufactured to become obsolete in just a few years so the customers are forced to buy more often. Plus, if it’s being sold by companies that are going out of business, they can’t be serviced & the warenty is nonexistant.
Thanks for emailing me this, Ally. You know I hate wasting money.
Well, I guess the best thing to say about this event (based on the commercials I’ve seen) is “If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
Come to think of it, I’ve only seen thecommercials on one channel, it was a Discovery Networks channel. I shouldn’t be suprised that they would advertise for a scammy flea market every single commercial break when they’re supposed to be a science & history network that advertises religion & paranormal activity such as UFO abductions & ghost sightings as if they were real things.
If you run out of specials within a few hours and this is not mentioned in your ads, to me that’s fraud. The TV ads make it sound like everything is on sale no matter what time or day you attend. Why don’t they tell the truth, that there are only a few items (not worth buying so I hear) with any kind of savings available and they run out within a few hours. More than likely they never had them at all. Did they forget to mention the admittance and parking fees. “Don’t go”, karma will catch up with him and his associates.
Funny how I ran across this thread while looking for “tv liquidation washington”.
I also got scammed this past December 2009. This was a total nightmare. We went on Saturday morning, got there about an hour early, waited in line forever for them to open the ticket booths, paid almost $20 for me and the wife, waited in another line to get inside for about 25 minutes, made our way inside to find out we would have been better off going to the cheesy B&E on South Tacoma Ave and bought some gold teeth instead of going to this “sale”.
Like someone else said, it was all garbage. It was a joke. Better stuff for sale at the Tacoma drive in flea market than here. This is why I shop ebay or Amazon.
To the CEO that posted, next time I see another advertisement for one of these events I will stand outside and tell everyone what crap is for sale inside.
What a sad joke this was.
Forgot to notate that we paid for parking for this POS event.
i smell scammmm..why can’t they get in trouble for false advertising???i read one comment tha a couple were there an hr.b-4 they open doors an they sell all JUNK..bad for tacoma…
That sale, with the pirated stuff, etc., sounds like the flee markets we went to in Moscow, Russia all the time. Rolex watches for $20, etc. Alan
