Target’s Applicant Questionnaire - the “Ideal Candidate”
I’m sure that it is not only Target who quizzes applicants in order to get a sample of his or her personality. In fact, many big stores and companies who are hiring general labor are beginning to add a personality test as a part of their application.
Some of these questions are no brainers, such as “Do you smoke Marijuana?” Well, as one may guess, if you answer “yes” to that question, chances are you aren’t going to get hired. Here are some other ones that may amuse you. The questions have answers that are multiple choice as well as true/false.
- What percentage of politicians do you believe tell lies?
- What percentage of people do you think cheat on their taxes?
- Most people would steal if they knew they could get away with it.
- How do you compare with your friends in terms of confidence?
- How do you compare with your friends in terms of success?
- On a scale of 1-10, how rebellious are you?
- What do you do when you disagree?
- If someone treats you unfairly, how do you react?
- Are you more of a dreamer or rational thinker?
- When learning a skill, how well do you perform it compared with other people?
- How do you compare with other people in terms of optimism?
- What kind of a goal setter are you?
- How do you feel about working at a fast paced and hectic environment?
These are just some of the sample questions that are on the Target application. I’m sure after reading this, one can get a picture of their “ideal worker”. Unfortunately, their idea of an ideal worker is far from human… and we can see what this worker would look like - a total tool.
Never questions anything, believer in the American dream, not having a dream of one’s own, living an “honest hardworking life”, and soullessly saying “hi how can I help you today?” while getting screwed up the ass by a corporation. All while trying to be better at it than one’s peers. Oh yeah, and don’t forget that they’re looking for someone to stay forever who will work tirelessly for a promotion.
I’m sure a lot of us have grown up past the age of 16….
