Top 5 Ideas to Help Make Money Blogging

1. Build Solid Content

The content on your site is basically your entire site! If you try and fill it with information nobody wants or needs, all you will do is drive people to hit that back button as fast as possible. Aside from adding content that is interesting, write your content about your passions first.

I run a studio from my own home and that is what drives me to write articles towards recording equipment and studio designs so much. I thought back to when I had just a guitar and a tiny amp and no clue as to what I could do. Now 4 years later, I have a complete home studio that I love to use and is in fact one of my largest passions in life.

People who are in my position may just find my blog resourceful as much as my posts are meaningful to me. Write about what you love and you will love what you write.

2. Attract Attention

_MG_3517_edA lot of blogs are recycled content from other blogs and do not stand out at all in the sea of online content these days. How often do you search for information only to find mirrored-content websites?

That is why I think you need to take risk. Put your site out there and push boundaries with your content and design. You don’t have to go completely wild to draw traffic to your site, but if you’re just a clone of another blog you will slowly fade into the distance and will not be seen.

3. Make a Great Design

Choose a nice design for your site, or better yet, design your own site for complete originality. Try and make your site easy to read and make the flow as smooth as possible.

Nothing is worse then a huge, nicely written article that gives readers a headache after the first paragraph because black and neon green looked cool on the sign at the bar. Take risks, yes, but make functionality the focus first.

4. Join the Community

from the stepsRead other blogs and join discussions on blogs that are similar to yours. People like interacting with real people and enjoy having constructive conversations.

Show people that you are more then just a weblink and are actually flesh and blood. You can even post links back to your site this way, but try to do it when it pertains to the discussion. Nobody likes a spammer, we get enough of that in our email boxes.

5. Chose Smart Advertising

I’m not talking about 20+ adds and 10 different banner adds, but a few small targeted adds will help draw in some revenue to your site. I recommend examining your adds from time to time to make sure you aren’t peddling products you disagree with morally.

I wrote a past article on a May day protest and was getting adds for books on Scientology. I’m not about directing people towards any particular religion or belief and felt that should be left out of my site all together. A good motto is morals before money.
